Research - what are the codes and conventions of the Thriller Genre

                                                
What technical/costume/symbolic/language codes does it have?
The film has a lot of scenes in the dark and this creates a very tense atmosphere throughout the film. This is a also a typical way of creating enigma within the thriller genre. The scene also has a lot of jump cuts and this makes the scenes seem very fast paced which is a typical convention of the thriller genre.
How are characters represented? Do the codes help to 
enhance this? How so?
Most of the characters are presented as being fighters. This conforms because a typical element of a thriller would be quite fast paced action scenes.

How is the film marketed? How does it help to enhance the
enigma of the piece? Why enigma?

The film has a lot of jump cuts to the basement that they actually fight in and this creates enigma because you wonder where they are actually fighting.

The film has a lot of jump cuts throughout the scenes and this makes the film seem quite fast paced. The film also has a lot of fast paced seen in dark places. This creates enigma because it does not give away where they are as well as the fast pace making the scene seem quite exciting. The scene made $100.9 million.

It influences what we are creating because it has a good use of enigma and jump cuts and it is a good example of how we can use both of these techniques to create drama.
